Hi all! My name is Angelica. I'm a twenty something…
Sometimes, it’s tough to see the good through the endless amounts of pain, doctor appointments, and the inevitable two-week waiting periods (whether you’re waiting on the insurance company or blood work results).
How do we get through it? One thing that helps me is to write and read inspirational quotes! So I thought I’d share a quote that means a lot to me (hopefully you’ll like it, too).
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.”
Although many readers attribute this quote to Maya Angelou, the actual source is still unknown. According to Snopes, the quote began circulating the web in 2002 in an email chain titled “George Carlin’s Views on Aging.”
Either way, this quote has stuck with me for the last two-and-a-half years. This short but sweet quote helped me during some of my darkest moments. Originally, I read this quote in a negative way – the last time my breath was taken away was when I was told I had a “less than five perfect chance” of conceiving naturally. For me, changing my mindset was essential. Since that day, I’ve flipped the script and have had so many days where my breath was taken away (in a good way!) and it’s during those times that I think about how thankful I am for the things that I do have.
I believe this quote is inspirational because it’s so easy to take things for granted. When we start to focus on things that are out of our control, we end up missing those once-in-a-lifetime moments. I truly believe we were chosen to be #EndoSisters for a reason – I think we were chosen to help others see and feel those important moments.
We are human and there will be days when it feels as though we’ll never see the light at the end of the tunnel. But as long as we keep the people we love (the people who are in our corner) near, everything will work out. Plus, women with Endometriosis are true warriors, leaders, and boss babes, and this quote reflects that.
