Ready to Rant: I Was Rushed to the ER for a Massive Ovarian Cyst
My name is Stacey and I have Stage IV Endometriosis. Seventeen years ago, I was a very scared, frustrated little girl who was just looking for some answers. Answers as to why I was in so much pain.
Like most, I was searching for years before I was properly diagnosed with the disease. I was told it was all apart of being a woman or that I must have had a cyst that burst. Yadda yadda.
We’ve all been there, I know.
It wasn’t until the day I had one of my multiple ultrasounds (thanks to the pain), that they actually found a large cyst on one of my ovaries. It was so big that my gynecologist told me that I needed to get to the hospital for emergency surgery.
That was the day I FINALLY got some answers.
As a Registered Nurse, I now educate the medical community on how to listen to their patients. I remind them that it’s important not “chalk things up” as just another girl having just another period. I also educate young girls on the signs and symptoms of Endometriosis and what to ask their doctors, because as we all know, knowledge IS power.
